Annual erect herbs, pubescent, trichomes adpressed, medifixed (T- shaped). Stipules subulate or linear. Leaves simple or imparipinnate, 3-foliate; leaflets abaxially or on both surfaces with adpressed, white, medifixed trichomes, margin entire or dentate, exstipellate. Inflorescences axillary, racemose. Flowers bisexual, zygomorphic, 5-merous, perigynous, small, mostly purplish; peduncle present or absent. Calyx 5-toothed, tube oblique, teeth unequal, the lowest (posterior or abaxial) elongated, setaceous. Corolla papilionaceous, purplish, caducous: vexillum and wings narrow, keel bursiform (pouched) or spurred. Stamens 10, monoadelphous, anthers uniform, apiculate. Monocarpellary, ovary sessile, ovules numerous, placentation marginal; style incurved, stigma capitate. Legumes (pods) longitudinally ridged, beaked, several-seeded with septa between the seeds.

Annual erect herb, 60-100 cm tall, most of the parts covered with adpressed medifixed trichomes. Stems erect, branched, 4-5-angled, covered with adpressed white-greyish medifixed trichomes, more densely at angles. Stipules linear-subulate, ca. 10 mm long, setaceous. Leaves alternate, imparipinnate, 3-foliate; petiole 2.5-4 cm long with adaxial groove; leaflets 3.5-7.5 cm x 1.5-5 cm, elliptic, apex acute, margin dentate; petiolules ca. 2 mm long; rachis 2.5-2 cm long; petiole, rachis, petiolules and both surfaces of leaflets densely covered with adpressed medifixed trichomes. Inflorescences axillary racemose, 4-10 cm long with a short peduncle; peduncle and axis covered with adpressed medifixed trichomes. Flowers bisexual, zygomorphic, 5-merous, perigynous. Bracts linear, setaceous, 6-7 mm long. Flowers small, 8-9 mm long, purplish. Pedicels short ca. 1 mm long. Calyx 5-6.5 mm long, 5-toothed; tube oblique, ca. 2 mm long; teeth triangular-lanceolate, unequal, 1.5-4.2 mm long, the lowest lobe largest, nearly 2 times longer than calyx tube, calyx with medifixed trichomes on outside. Corolla papilionaceous, purplish-white; vexillum broadly ovate to +/- orbicular, ca. 8 mm x 6.5 mm, with a short claw, apex obtuse or slightly emarginate; wings ca. 8 mm x 4 mm with short claw and oblique apex; keel ca. 9 mm long, pocketed at sides, spur absent. Stamens 10, monoadelphous, staminal tube ca. 5 mm long; anthers similar, ca. 1 mm long, apiculate. Ovary ca. 5 mm long, glabrous, sessile, unilocular with few ovules, placentation marginal; style 1.3-1.5 mm long, incurved, +/- geniculate; stigma small, capitate. Legumes nearly linear, 4-7 cm x 3-8 mm, erect, subtetragonal, pubescent, longitudinally ridged, with septa between seeds. Seeds 6-13 per legume, black to greyish, surface tuberculate.
